Michael J. Maxwell

Mr. Maxwell oversees protective operations, manages physical and personnel security audits, and coordinates threat assessment programs for clients. Before joining IMG, Mr. Maxwell was the former Director of the Office of Security and Investigations (OSI) within the Department of Homeland Security.

As the OSI Director, Mr. Maxwell was responsible for developing and managing a 23 Million dollar security program for an agency comprised of more than 15,000 employees in 250 facilities worldwide. There he created and oversaw internal affairs investigations and personal protection functions for high-ranking government officials, as well creating an international operations branch responsible for security and medical operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.

Mr. Maxwell joined DHS in 2002 with more than 15 years of experience in law enforcement and security operations, including leading a municipal police force as Chief of Police, participating in national security operations throughout the world with both the Department of Defense and the FBI and managing security assessment and planning projects for large commercial clients in the United States.

Mr. Maxwell is a seasoned lecturer in the subjects of security planning and management, executive protection, law enforcement management, and special operations medicine. He has conducted dozens of lectures and training sessions for Federal agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Hostage Rescue Team, and the Special Operations community of the Department of Defense.

Mr. Maxwell holds a Master’s Degree in Management, with concentrations in the areas of Negotiation Theory and Organizational Development, from Cambridge College.
